Athletics Day Tuesday 28 February

Nayland College —

Just a reminder that next Tuesday is Athletics Day at Saxton Athletics Track. If you are not yet signed up for an event and would like to do so, please head to the Sports Office as soon as possible. Further information and details below.

When? Tuesday 28 February, 9am- 3pm

Where? Saxton athletics track

What is it? Athletics day is a non-compulsory event. Students who enter five events may have the entire day off lessons. This is particularly encouraged for juniors. Middle distance events (800m, 1500m and 3000m) will be held on alternative date.

What to bring? Food, comfortable clothes (waka colours encouraged), warm clothes, trainers, hat, sunblock, water.

How does it happen? Students must make their own way to Saxton and home. There will be some transport offered for those students with no way of travelling to Saxton e.g. for those that bus to and from school. These students will meet at the flagpole at 8.30am. Competitors have been entered into events during their PE classes. However, if you're not signed up yet and you would like to enter, please go to the Sports Office as soon as possible to register.

Why does it happen? Athletics day provides an opportunity for students to qualify for Tasman Secondary Schools Championships. It also allows students to compete in a friendly environment and enjoy the varying physical challenges the events provide. Students will also gain house points for entering.
