This week two Year 9 Food Technology classes made their way by van or bike down to Oaklands Milk Farm to learn more about where food comes from and how our local producers are working to ensure food is produced sustainably and ethically. Lilian Fierek (pictured above with classmates), shares some highlights and photos.

On Wednesday morning, Matt Robinson’s two Year 9 Food Technology classes went to Oaklands Milk Farm, all eager to see what they would learn from the day. 

First, we all got to school at 8:50 ready to leave by bike or by van. When we got to Oaklands milk farm we got split into our two classes. 

One went with Amy a really nice woman and learnt about animal welfare and got to see the calves. 

Meanwhile the other class went with Julian one of the main Oakland’s Milk owners and learnt about sustainability, the recycling of the glass bottles, pasteurization, and lots of other interesting things.

The bikers then left early, and the van people got to stay behind to see the calves once more. At the end of the trip, we all thought that this was a great time and an awesome experience and would all love to do it again.
