In 2018 the Nayland College / Garin College combined sailing team completed a successful 420 Team Sailing Regatta for the top of the South Island.

This was held in Port Nelson and was hosted by the Nelson Yacht Club. It included teams from as far away as Canterbury.

This year there will also be Nayland students competing at this level. They are Ella Holmes (year 13) and Angus McMahon (year 11). The regatta, hosted by the Queen Charlotte Yacht Club, will be held this weekend in Picton from 28th March to 30th March.

On the back of last year’s outstanding team performance of attaining gold fleet – the equivalent of sailing in the finals with the top seven teams - the Nayland / Garin combined team will also be sailing in the 420 Nationals at Snells Beach, Auckland in the April school holidays.
