Message from the Principal

Daniel Wilson —

Dear parents/caregivers

Nayland College is always reviewing our communication systems and how we can make engagement with the school more timely, meaningful and relevant for parents and caregivers. It is for this reason that we have decided to discontinue our twice termly newsletter and instead send an electronic newsletter each Friday outlining important dates, but also keeping you informed with various activities that have been happening around the school. Please feel free to forward this email to all your family members and get them to sign up for updates.

Each week this newsletter will include an important message that will be written by either myself, one of my Senior Leadership Team or even the Board Chair. In this way you should get to know my team and their portfolios/responsibilities very well as the year progresses. I may even pluck up the courage to deliver some messages via video in the future!

I have been told many stories over the last couple of years about the fabulous “trash and treasure” sales that were historically a major fundraiser for the Parent Teacher Association. Re-launching this event is a wonderful initiative by the current PTA and looking at the goods lined up to be sold in the hall tomorrow morning I know some people are going to leave with a bargain! You will also be supporting a great cause – the redevelopment of our canteen and surrounding area. Doors open at 9:00 am.

Next week we say goodbye to our Director of Sport, Mr. Mark Cochrane. Mark has done a great job supporting and promoting sport at Nayland College and I wish him all the best for his new position at the rugby union. We are currently in the process of appointing a new Director of Sport. This is a very important strategic position for the school and once it is confirmed I will ensure that parents have an opportunity to meet and welcome the new person into this position.

I am really looking forward to our drama production “Great Expectations”, being held next week in the Preforming Arts Centre on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday nights starting at 7:30 pm. Tickets are only $5.00 and available from the Business Centre or (if available) on the door. Good luck to all the cast, crew and Director Mr. Bentley.

Nga mihi nui

Daniel Wilson
