Girls rugby kicks off

team manager Jo Cotton —

The Nayland College girls rugby team has kicked off its rugby season with three games already under its belt.

The first pre-season game saw Nayland challenge Waimea College in a friendly game at Nayland, described as "one of the best fields in the region."

Our girls were ready to take on Waimea after almost two months of training and they fought hard to challenge an experienced side. Although we showed them how to work hard, Waimea went on to  take the win.

Our second game and the first for the season saw us take on Nelson College for Girls - again on a lovely afternoon on our field. NCG proved to be too powerful and strong at running with the ball and defeated Nayland - but not without some tough defence.

Game two for the season sees us take on Waimea at Jubilee Park and it promises to be a great game with the weather set for a good old wet, muddy evening under the lights.
