Principal's message

Daniel Wilson —

Dear Parents & Caregivers,

This week we had the opportunity to meet with our Board and representatives from our community and whānau as we began the process of writing our 2024-2025 Strategic Plan. This included collating the feedback from recent consultation surveys that went out to staff, students and caregivers. As a school we really value the time that individuals have given to provide electronic or in-person feedback as we collectively work towards engaging our ākonga in learning that is authentic, relevant and meaningful. A special thank you to those parents who attended the hui on Wednesday night and to our Board members who continue to support our kura with their time and valuable input.

There have been a number of sporting tournaments taking place and I would like to congratulate our Boys Cricket team who came second in the Tasman Secondary Schools Junior Champs, and to wish our three junior volleyball teams all the best as they travel to Dunedin next week for the South Island Championships.

Planning is well underway for 2024 and our teaching staff will be working alongside their colleagues, both within Nayland College and with other local schools, on Monday's Staff Only Day as they grapple with changes to NCEA and the curriculum refresh. While there are no classes for junior students on Monday, exams will continue.

Don't miss our Car Boot & Fete Fundraiser taking place on Sunday from 10:00am to 1:00pm in our front carpark. Come and enjoy the live music, sausage sizzle and an opportunity to both find a treasure and support our concert band fundraising to attend the KBB Music Festival next year.

Ngā mihi nui,

Daniel Wilson
