Teen set to run 5km every hour for 24hrs to raise funds for Diabetes New Zealand

Anna Hancox —

Anna Hancox has set herself a goal to raise enough money to fund 50 Continuous Glucose Monitors for youth with Type 1 Diabetes. You can support her cause through her Givealittle page.

Imagine having to pick your childs finger 8-10 times a day.

This is the case for youth living with type 1 diabetes unless they can afford a Continuous Glucose Monitor (CGM). Unfortunately these are not funded yet and with them costing $100 a fortnight are out of reach financially for a lot of families.

With a CGM, finger pricks are reduced dramatically and levels can be monitored by a smartphone or watch. This creates piece of mind for parents as they can see when the child is going high or low without having to finger prick to check.

On May 14 -15th I am going to be running 5km every hour for 24hours.

Lets see if we can raise enough to fund 50 CGM's!
