9A netballers put in hard yards at tournament

team manager Lauren Mekalick —

During the term two school holidays, the 9A netball team competed in the South Island Secondary Schools Tournament, held at Hagley Park in Christchurch.

After a tough couple of games first up, narrowly losing by one point to Wakatipu who ended up coming 11th, the girls played off for the bottom half of the competition.

They played as a team, showing impressive skill, fitness, dedication, positivity and support towards one another. We had a large number of parents, family and friends travel south to cheer the girls on. Overall the girls placed 20th.

We would like to thank everyone who helped or supported our fundraising, especially our generous businesses below. Congratulations also go to our raffle winners.

We would also like to thank the wider 9A family for your support on the sideline throughout the season, messages and offers, assistance with officiating, transporting the girls and providing delicious goodies for the tournament. Special mention needs to go to coach Jo Chapman, whose positivity, knowledge and leadership benefited the entire team.

Finally, we would like to congratulate the girls on an outstanding tournament. You have each transformed as players and grown closer as a team. With one round to go of the local Saturday tournament, the team look to progress and use their experiences from the South Island tournament.
