PPTA strike day Thursday 16 March

Nayland College Board —

School will be closed for instruction on Thursday 16 March. Supervised study will be made available in the Library for junior students who cannot stay at home.

Dear Parents and Caregivers

RE: Industrial Action – PPTA Teachers’ Strike on Thursday 16 March 2023

The PPTA has advised the Nayland College School Board that its member teachers at our school will be taking strike action on Thursday 16 March 2023.

The Board has carefully considered the availability of non-union teaching staff, and unfortunately decided that we cannot provide normal instruction during the strike. The school will officially be closed for instruction on Thursday 16 March.

If making alternative arrangements for junior students is difficult, we can provide supervised study in the Library. Students will be supervised by non-PPTA teaching staff and will need to bring their own online study to work on.

If you need to send your child to school for supervised study, please register via our online form.

Students registered for supervised study will need to sign in at the Library by 9:30am (late start Thursday). They will be supervised until the usual end time of 3:15pm.

Buses will not be running on this day so you will need to make your own transport arrangements.

We know that this may be inconvenient for parents and students alike. Please be assured that safety is our main concern.

Thank you for your understanding.

Yours sincerely

Rachel Robinson

Board Presiding Member
