Year 13 students in Pathway+ exposed to a life in the emergency services

Alana Wall - Head of Gateway/Pathway+/Trades —

A group of students were lucky enough to visit the the St John Ambulance and Fire Services Nelson this week, and the class also had Constable Charlotte Donaldson visit to talk about her roll as a police officer and how to enter the profession.

The students discovered that New Zealand Emergency services, in addition to being renowned for high standards of training and professional experience, is a career where no two days are the same.

The site visit was organised by student Gareth Polglaze who is heavily involved within St John Youth and is currently a Cadet Leader.

This type of exposure allows students the opportunity to make a more informed decision about what careers they might like to pursue once they leave school.
