Showcase of razor-sharp wit

Gaye Bloomfield - Teacher —

The Suter Art Society recently held its annual public debate evening where teams from Nelson College, Waimea College, Nayland College and Nelson College for Girls debated the arts.

In 2018, the two moots were: Art is an essential part of a balanced curriculum followed by Fine Arts must be exclusive and elitist

As always, it was thrilling to see secondary students from around the region articulating sophisticated arguments and delivering clever word play live-action.

Well done to Matthew Suter, Matthew Edmunds and Ruben Castaing for representing Nayland College so well. While not able to bring home the trophy this year, our team showcased their opinions and knowledge about fine arts with razor-sharp wit and good sportsmanship .
