Rejoining the Nayland family

Trevor Olley —

We are here to support you as you transition back into life in the school environment. Please read further for an important message from Deputy Principal Trevor Olley.

Over recent weeks the Senior Leadership Team and Deans have spoken to a number of students and parents about engaging in the learning process.

We fully understand that it is not always a level playing field when it comes to the learning environment you are dealing with and we are concerned about those students who are struggling to the point of contemplating leaving school.

There are a number of reasons why this is not the best time to make what could be a life changing decision. This is a totally unique situation with a set of circumstances that no one has experienced before and sometimes those feelings of “it’s all too hard” and “I’m too far behind” are in the moment, and with a positive mindset and support they can go away pretty quickly.

All students, when they return to school will get the support they need to get back on track.

You also need to consider that the options for school leavers just got a whole lot more limited. Unemployment rates will rise, and teenagers will be competing for jobs with adults who have years of work and life experience.

Even now it is not too late to get back to engaging in the learning. Any “little bit” will help how students feel about coming back to school.

We are looking forward to seeing you all again soon so that we can support you to feel positive about being part of the Nayland College family once again.
