Waves of success for our lifesavers

Nayland College —

Several of our Nayland College staff and students were recognised at the recent Nelson Surf Lifesaving Club prize giving held at the Marist club rooms on the Sunday 31 March. Nayland College students were recognised for both their lifeguard skills, surf sport performances and contributions to the club.

Major awards were also awarded to the following students:

  • Sam Edens won a total of six awards including trophies for competing in the most U16 Sea Swims and ‘Most Outstanding Attitude and Commitment’
  • Alys Hewison won the trophy for Outstanding Patrol Member completing over sixty volunteer patrol hours over the season.
  • Brodie Seelen (and IRB team) won the Tahunanui Long Haul trophy.

Two of our staff members also received Certificates of Recognition. Jolene Chapman for organising fundraising events for the club and Jane Townsend for coaching the Senior Surf Sports squad and assisted with training new Lifeguards.
