Achievement Conferences

Hannah Banks —

An important opportunity to discuss your child's goals, their learning and progress - happening in weeks 2 and 3 of term 2.

Achievement conferences are an important opportunity for students to share and reflect on their goals and their learning so far this year. These three-way conferences are held between student, tutor teacher and parents / caregivers. They are designed to be student led and for you to gain an overview of your child's progress in all of their classes and to agree on targeted ways you can support your child to succeed.

Evidence shows that powerful educational connections between home and school are an important factor in supporting students in their academic achievement. Students will prepare for these conferences in Puna Ako at the beginning of term 2.

The discussion during the conference may include:

  • Attendance and punctuality

  • Term 1 Traffic Light Report

  • A piece of work that the student is proud of

  • Achievement goals and how they link to possible future pathways

  • Assessment results and other relevant data

  • How NCEA works

  • Strategies for catching up following covid absence

Achievement conferences will be held:

Wednesday 11th May 2-5pm, 6-8pm. Please note school will close at 1.00pm.
Thursday 19th May 9am-12pm, 1pm-3pm. Please note that there will be no classes running on this day.

At the beginning of term 2 information will come about how to book a conference with your child's tutor and we urge to take this opportunity.

Have a wonderful Easter break everyone.
