During the October, Summer and April school holidays we run numerous courses for different ages and ability levels. They are normally run over 5 days, but occasionally shorter courses are scheduled. NB. 2022-23 Registrations will start opening from 1st September.

The Holiday Programmes at Nelson Yacht Club have become a ‘must-do’ for local kids, and we even see families coming from places further afield like Christchurch and Auckland to take part. Registration forms at the bottom of the page 🙂 

We generally try to fit in an adventure of some sort, such as picnic lunches on Haulashore Island, climbing the iconic Nelson Lighthouse, scavenger hunts on the Boulder Bank, sailing to Tahunanui beach or up to the Maitai river. The end of the week shared lunch is always a mean feed!

2022-23 Summer Holidays

Please bear with us, we will have summer holiday registrations available as soon as we can. We are hoping to have a new website live soon, so we may well try and time Summer Holiday information and registrations in with that.

For now, we can say that we’ll be running the following weeks:

• Week 0 – 12th – 16th December – we can schedule courses/groups to demand in this week. Not holidays for all, but if your son/daughter will have finished school by this point, or part way through the week, then get in touch and we can look into putting something together.
• Week 1 – 19th – 23rd December – 5-day courses
• Week 2 – 4th – 6th January – 3-day courses
• Week 3 – 9th – 13th January – 5-day courses
• Week 4 – 16th – 20th January – 5-day courses
• Week 5 – 23rd – 27th January – 5-day courses

Course Details:

• Timings – 9am – 4pm each day.
• 5-day Course – $370 ($315 for NYC members)
• 4-day Course* – $320 ($265 for NYC members)
• 3-day Course* – $260 ($225 for NYC members)
• 2-day Course* – $190 ($165 for NYC members)
• Drop In Day – $110 ($95 for NYC members)

*on a scheduled course of this length.

As we run small ratios of instructor to students, only one or two sailors makes the difference between a viable and a full course. So, we have to give priority to people booking the full course. If you’d like your son/daughter to join a few days of a longer course, then the Drop-In Day rate will apply. Please note that this can’t be booked in advance and is subject to availability nearer the time.
