Principal's message Friday 1 May

Daniel Wilson —

I hope you have all had a positive week as we have shifted into Alert Level 3 with some students and families transitioning into extended work and school bubbles. Just a short update this week with a full newsletter to follow next week.

Dear parents/caregivers

It has been great to see a few students back at school this week and we are very grateful to our staff who have volunteered to be on site supervising these students within their assigned bubbles. The large majority of our staff and students continue to work from home and we want to acknowledge all the hard work that is happening from home within their bubbles.

A reminder that we can only accept students into our school bubble that meet the criteria as set out by the Ministry of Education and have pre-enrolled. If you are intending on enrolling your child for next week, please follow this link to enrol if you have not already. Students on site will be continuing to work online on individual devices as they would be doing at home, they will effectively be supervised at school.

A highlight for staff and families within our local Nayland community this week has been the arrival of a coffee truck on our front lawn. It has been great to see our community taking advantage of the sunshine and enjoying a delicious coffee and scone while still managing to maintain the safe 2m physical distancing rules.

Interim reports have been emailed out to families this afternoon. Please note that these reports only reflect learning and engagement during the weeks prior to the lockdown. Also, we are aware of an issue with the attendance figures for each subject due to the Covid-19 lockdown. These are incorrect however the overall attendance box at the bottom is correct. If you have any questions regarding these reports, please direct these to your child's subject teachers.

This week we have focused on student well-being and have created some space for students to catch up on assessments where necessary as well as encouraging them to continue to get outdoors for regular physical activity. In this brief update we have included a few ideas you might like to try over the weekend.

Stay safe, take care and thank you again for your support of our school and wider community during this time.
