Students role model the importance of bringing PE gear to lessons.

Jolene Cotton —

When one student needed to borrow a pair of tracksuit pants for PE, a group of friends all decided to model the old (but still fashionable) attire!

For PE (Physical Education) lessons, there is a requirement for students to bring a change of gear. Anything is reasonable as a 'change of PE gear' as long as it is not jeans (not very flexible), is appropriate and is flexible for moving. An alternative is to purchase a PE top from the uniform store.

PE gear is a requirement from Years 9 to 13 for all PE subjects which are compulsory up to Year 10 and NCEA courses from Years 11-13.

Although these students, above, often bring their 'change of PE gear' to lessons, one of the students was offered a tracksuit bottom as she had forgotten hers for the lesson. The other students saw the tracksuit and also wanted to wear the very old but still fashionable Nayland College tracksuit.

I decided that they could be a great promo for a mid year reminder:

  • Know your timetable
  • Be organised
  • Bring your 'change of PE gear'

Thanks girls for the enthusiasm! I am sure you can wear it another day if you so wish and 'no' you can't purchase them.
