Year 13s excel at Bridge Valley Camp

Year 13 student Lennox Crowe —

Nayland College’s Year 13s enjoyed an action packed two days of fun activities, team building exercises and general ‘tomfoolery’ on 18-19 February at Bridge Valley.

The iconic campsite at Bridge Valley really turned it on for the two days as the year group competed against each other in a tournament of obstacle challenges, raced across the lake in the raft building competition, played a large-scale game of spotlight, and much more.

When questioned about the camp, Year 13 students showered it with applause.

The first day led up to the much-anticipated theatre competition where groups presented self-prepared plays. It was a great laugh, as senior students performed narratives revolving around a variety of concepts such as the ‘Marlborough Aotearoa Petting Zoo’, a Romeo & Juliet remake, and numerous fairy-tale spinoffs. It was a great end to the first day of the camp.

The second day saw the year group rotating around a series of activities to prepare for the rest of the year. Students signed up for various committees, listened to guest speakers and made plans on how to keep Nayland College the best environment for students it can possibly be.

It was awesome to see the next bunch of school leaders stepping up to the task of being a senior student, and the year group has great things planned for the year.
