Sportsmanship name of the game at basketball competition

Nayland College Official —

The Learning Centre competed in the Special Olympics Basketball Competition on the 21st August.

The day started with a short skills practice and then three games.

As well as Nayland, local colleges Waimea, Garin, Salisbury and Maitai Schools, Tapawera  Area School and Motueka High School were all represented. Marlborough Boys and Allenvale School from Christchurch travelled from further afield to provide some stiff competition.

Nayland College came first in the skills competition and second in the A Grade basketball competition. According to head of the Learning Centre Chris Baillie, the Nayland students all played really well and with fantastic sportsmanship.  The whole centre attended and most participated. "I was very proud," he said.

Nayland brothers Ezekiel and Nathanial celebrated a great competition by performing a haka at the end of the day - check them out in action in this video.
