Nelson bus service moves to the future

Will Irvine —

The 'Bee Card' begins next week. From August 3rd, Nelson, Stoke, and Richmond residents will no longer be able to use paper tickets on the local NBuses.

In their place, the local Councils are implementing an electronic bus system, - the "Bee Card". Bee Cards work on a "tap on, tap off" system - you tap the card on when you get on the bus, and tap off when you leave.

Don't worry, though! Customers will still be able to pay with cash, although Bee Card fares will be cheaper. To get a Bee Card, order one for free at www.beecard.co.nz or pick one up from any local library or Council building.

They're only free until October 31st, so get one while you can, before they cost $5. Money can be deposited onto cards on www.beecard.co.nz. Nelson is moving into the future, and our bus system is no exception.
