Principal's message, 19 November 2021
Dear parents
It has been a hectic few weeks at school as we have navigated covid restricted prizegivings, end of year celebrations for seniors, a large range of assessment deadlines and preparation for external exams. Two fabulous prizegivings were held this week, with prize winners listed in todays newsletter.
I would like to thank all of our senior students who have now left on study leave, for helping to make this another challenging yet successful year at Nayland College. As Covid continues to disrupt life around the globe, we march on, and have ensured that alongside health, educational outcomes have been at the forefront of all our decision making. In particular, best wishes to our school leavers and we wish you all the very best for the forthcoming exams.
It has been a difficult few weeks for the education sector across the country as government vaccine mandates came into effect. Although this has impacted our staffing, I assure parents that we are meeting our mandated vaccine obligations. As seniors are now on study leave, there has been minimal disruption to lessons and we are well on track to be fully staffed in 2022.
We do go into 2022 with some classroom capacity issues as a $4.3m renovation of Block 3 begins in December. The outcome later next year will be a world class educational facility. We do have alternative teaching spaces available across the school and we are very hopeful that disruption will be minimal.
Nga mihi
