Achievement Conferences

Hannah Banks —

An important opportunity to discuss your child's goals, their learning and progress is happening in week 8 and week 10 of this term.

Achievement conferences are an important opportunity for students to share and reflect on their goals and their learning so far this year. These three-way conferences are held between student, kaiarahi (tutor teachers) and parents / caregivers. They are designed to be student led and for you to gain an overview of your child's goals and progress in all of their classes and to agree on targeted ways you can support your child to succeed.

Evidence shows that powerful educational connections between home and school are an important factor in supporting students in their academic achievement. Students have been preparing for these conferences during Puna Ako sessions this term.

The discussion during the conference may include:

  • Attendance and punctuality and it’s impacts on achievement
  • Term 1 Traffic Light Report
  • A piece of work that the student is proud of
  • Achievement goals and how they link to possible future pathways
  • Assessment results and other relevant data
  • How NCEA works

Achievement conferences will be held:

Wednesday 5th April 2-5pm, 6-8pm. Please note school will close at 1.00pm.
Friday 24th March 9am-12pm, 1pm-3pm. Please note that there will be no classes running on this day.

(Note that some tutors may arrange to meet with you outside of these times if necessary)

Please look out for the email coming home with details of how to book appointments.
