Congratulations again to our national finalists!

Bruno Watkins —

Ruihia Pemberton (Y11) and Xanthe Banks (Y12) travelled down to Dunedin this week to compete in the Ngā Manu Kōrero National Finals.

Xanthe competed in the Senior Māori section and Ruihia competed in the Senior English secion. While neither of the girls gained any further placings, they both did exceptionally well. It was an awesome experience hearing rangatahi from around the motu, bringing their messages about topics that affect them and te ao Māori. It was also great to be able to have the competition face-to-face after three years of covid interruptions.

All students, including those who accompanied Xanthe and Ruihia, were exceptional ambassadors and it was a great opportunity to whakawhanaunga with Wairau kura. We are grateful and proud of all of our Te Tau Ihu representatives.

E kī ana te whakataukī:

Ko te pae tawhiti kia tata ko te pae tata whakamaua kia tina!

Seek out distant horizons & cherish those you attain!

E ngā manukōrero ko koutou a runga!
