SOAR

Nayland College —

Our focus for term 1 this year is the 'success' value.

We want all learners to aim for personal excellence so this term we are teaching behaviours that helps students be successful.

The behaviours are:

  • Attend all lessons
  • Arrive on time
  • Be focused and persevere
  • Be organised

Students who demonstrate these behaviours can earn HUA (reward) tickets that contribute to house points and puts them in a draw for prizes at the end of the term.

SOAR is a schoolwide integrated initiative which aims to promote the following outcomes:

  • Establishing a school environment that supports long term success
  • Integrating positive academic and social behaviour expectations
  • Teaching desirable behaviours
  • Improving behaviour support systems for students
  • Increasing positive interactions with students
  • Using data for decision making
  • Decreasing reactive management
  • Maximising academic achievement

Our School-Wide Expectations

We have established clear expectations for the behaviour we expect in all areas of our school. We teach those expectations to the students and reward them frequently with our in-class and out of class rewards systems. The expectations for all student behaviour are clear throughout our learning and social areas.
