Year 9 Institute of Sport student Ariana McGee excelled at the recently held Canterbury Surf Lifesaving Championships.

Ariana placed second in the flags event where competitors start in a prone position, get up as fast as they can, turn and sprint and dive for a flag in the sand.  The heats are run as eliminations and Ariana held in there right to the end.

She also placed  third in the beach sprints - no mean feat when you're sprinting as fast as you can for 80m on the sand!
