Winter Festival: A colourful end to a wintry term

heads of houses and Circuit and media teams —

Our annual Winter Festival was held on the last day of term two. The calendar favourite saw a range of year levels and teaching staff participate in three different events across our school grounds.

Many students chose to compete in the Colour Run which featured an obstacle course around the school grounds. At each obstacle, students were bombarded with vibrant coloured powder. The course finished on the field with a quick dip down the waterslide.

A new event this year was based in the library and involved games, ‘old school style.’ Students participated in a range of board games including Cluedo, Twister, Connect Four, Monopoly, Uno, Articulate, Battleships and Chess. A gaming arcade was also created in the library computer lab, where students challenged each other to Space Invaders, PacMan and Agar.io.

Our much-loved quiz in the hall had a good turnout, with some participants decking themselves out in themed costumes. The quiz tested all with a range of categories for the 'clever' and the 'not so clever'. Prizes were given out for most original answer, best dressed, best round and many more. Thanks to the staff who marked the answers and resisted bribes!

Many thanks go to Port Nelson for supplying us with resources for the Colour Run, the Stoke Volunteer Fire Brigade for providing water for the waterslide, the Level 2/3 Media Studies class, Mr McKinlay and Susan Sinclair for providing photography and video footage, the student reporters for helping to cover the event, and finally, to our superb house leaders and captains. This was their first event to lead this year and they did a magnificent job at creating a great afternoon.
