Nelson club has plenty to cheer about

Nayland College Official —

Year 12 student Livinia Tregidga headed to Wellington recently to take part in the annual Ministry of Cheer cheerleading competition, alongside her teammates from the Nelson-based Electrix club.

Liv’s team, coached by Annabel Noar, competed in the Senior Open division where they placed first. Liv says they didn’t expect that result and were surprised and excited.

Two other younger teams from the Electrix Club also competed at the event and did well in their respective categories. Liv said the older and younger teams celebrated each others’ successes alongside each other.

The winning routine performed by Liv and her team featured a two and a half minute mash-up showcasing their skills at tumbling, dancing, stunts, pyramids and jumps.

Flexibility, strength, fitness and the uniform and styling looks they get to choose for each competition are all part of the drawcard for Liv.. She thinks she’ll keep going with the sport and was recently selected to be part of the Electrix elite team.

Nayland College congratulates Liv on her cheerleading achievements.
