Nayland College students, Holly Ward and Zena Denton competed in the Southern Speed Skating Competition which was held in Timaru first weekend of October.

Holly Ward did extremely well and achieved her goal of winning individual medals.

Junior girls she had 1st placing in 300m time trial, 1st placing in 1500m, 2nd placing in 800m, 2nd placing in 3000m, and 3rd placing in the 5000m in the 12 and over race, 2nd placing in the 1500m relay. Her results of 2 gold medals, 3 silver medals and 1 bronze medal.

Zena Denton - Intermediate Ladies - 3rd placing in 300m time trial, 3rd placing in 800m, 2nd placing in 1500m, and 2nd in 3000m.

Her results pf 2 silver medals and 3 bronze medals.
