Deputy Principal's Message
Kia ora koutou
The end of the 2017 school year is rapidly approaching and we are looking forward to celebrating the successes of our junior students next Thursday afternoon at their prizegiving. While the focus earlier in the term was on the accomplishments of and service given by our senior students, the profiles of many of our juniors are impressive. We acknowledge what they have achieved and know they will make a significant contribution as they move through to their next year of schooling.
This week has given students the opportunity to be involved in the junior intensive programme. They have selected from a range of activities and spent three days immersed in doing something of particular interest to them. Choices have included film making, caving, fishing, tennis, camping, mountain biking, crafts, adventure racing, face-to-face gaming, Masterchef and many more. Students have not only enjoyed the activities but also the opportunity to get to know others from different tutor and core classes.
Today is the final day of NCEA exams and senior students are now looking forward to their holiday break. We commend them for working hard to ensure they were well prepared for the exams and await the final results with interest.
Year 13s have one final school function to look forward to, that being the Graduation Dinner. It is always a memorable evening where students reflect on their time at Nayland College, say good bye to those who have been part of their daily lives for the past five years, and look ahead as they embark on the next step of their life journey. I would like to take this opportunity to wish each and every one of them all the very best for what lies ahead and hope they will stay in touch in the future.
