Year 13 Camp at Rotoiti

Seventy-five Year 13 students participated in a two-day camp held at Lake Rotoiti last week. The camp included a variety of team building activities to facilitate connections with each other and with the local area.

Students were involved in a group wero/challenge where they learnt about the stories and key landmarks of the area while travelling on foot, jumping into, and paddling body boards on the lake.

The Year 13 students also worked together to build and race rafts, explored Black hill and kayak on the beautiful Lake Rotoiti. The students also had the opportunity to plan and cook their meals in small groups and enter their culinary masterpieces in a ‘Master Chef’ competition. The evening also included three leadership sessions, some impromptu performances and confessions of an ex-detective.

The staff involved were impressed with the positive attitudes, the way in which students collaborated and supported each other, and the SOAR qualities demonstrated on camp.
