The highly anticipated VAST Dance Festival took place on Thursday the 15th of August at the Theatre Royal. Nayland was well-represented by both performers and technical and backstage crew.

Nayland’s musical talent has been given another boost after the mixed choir, NayCol Chorale, made it through the regional Big Sing Competition and were invited to perform at the Cadenza finale event, held in Timaru from the 15th-18th of August.

In July the Year 9 Institute of Sport (IOS) class travelled to Auckland for their high performance camp. Highlights of the camp included training and staying at the Millennium Centre in Auckland.

The annual Pi Competition took place on Wednesday the 21st of August in the school hall.

Power-lifter and Year 12 student Emily Rutherford recently became the National Youth Champion after competing in Christchurch last month.

Nayland College was the venue for the ‘Junior Stretch and Challenge’ day run by the Ministry of Inspiration on Wednesday the 14th of August.

Maree Shalders was given a surprise today, with an anniversary celebration for her 20 years of service managing Nelson's alternative education programme, Youth Nelson. Previous Youth Nelson graduates, colleagues, community members and current students and staff gathered to celebrate the positive contribution she has made to youth in Nelson over a 20 year span.

Year 9 student and Nayland drama personality Sam Clark recently won both of the two categories he entered in the 2019 Nelson Centre of Musical Arts Scholarship Competition.

On Monday 12th August students from around the Nelson/Marlborough region took part in the annual Student Model United Nations, hosted here at Nayland College.

A group of avid football-playing Nayland students originally from Colombia organised this year’s annual futsal game against the ‘Nayland Kiwis’.

The Learning Centre competed in the Special Olympics Basketball Competition on the 21st August.

'Tea and Tech' is an awesome programme facilitated by AgeConnect. It works by pairing us students with members of the retired community to help them out with the technology side of their devices, be it phones, tablets, or laptops.

INSPIRE Festival registration is now LIVE! This festival is for students in school years 5-8 who love hands-on learning. There is something for everyone-movie making, genetics, paper mache, chemistry, and/or flight!

We are running 3 Pilates & 1 Couch to 5K Couses in addition to 2 Legends Classes for active older people.
