Students keep it reel in film festival

Aspiring young film makers, including 10 from Nayland College, will be showing off their short films at the Suter Art Gallery Theatre on Thursday the 31st of October.

The films, made by  Level 2 and 3 media studies students, encompass a range of genres and topics, including an unfortunate Uber driver, a man who loses his fiancé to a chicken, a hobbit's quest to kill Peter Jackson and an attempt to pull off a heist by breaking into the principal’s office.

This is the largest number of films Nayland College has had accepted into the festival for some time, a testament to the creativity and drive of the students.

The night will feature short films not only from Nayland students, but also from Nelson Girls  and Nelson Boys College students.

The festival is over two nights, with a selection of documentaries from other local colleges being played on Tuesday 29th October.

Tickets can be bought on the night or directly from Mr McKinlay.
