Beach Volleyball Girls take home Junior Sports Team of the Year
The ASB Nelson Sports Awards were held on the evening of Wednesday 21 November. Greta Stjade and Sophie Young were nominated in the Junior Sports Team of the Year category for their Beach Volleyball success earlier this year.
Back in February this year Greta and Sophie competed at the New Zealand Secondary School Beach Volleyball Championship, where they won the Senior Girls competition. This is the first time a Tasman team had won a schools Beach Volleyball title in either boys or girls competitions.
Their high achievement was acknowledged at at the Nelson Sports Awards on Thursday night. The Beach Volleyball team was up against some very difficult competition this year, with many local teams across a wide variety of codes having successful seasons.
