From Stoke to Sydney

We love hearing about our students involvement in local and international sports. During April Nayland College students Maia & Zoë travelled with a team from Seido Karate Stoke to the international Seido Karate Festival in Sydney.

This year's Seido Festival in Sydney was well represented by many dojos and senior karateka from throughout New Zealand, Australia, United States of America and Japan.  With over 250 competitors and another 150+ attending the various seminars, training sessions and functions.

Maia Currie and Zoë Jurgeleit are 14 year old brown belts in Seido Karate.  Both Maia and Zoë placed in two events in the tournament. They have been training for over three years to get to this level. In preparation for their tournament they both trained between 5-10 hours a week.

Congratulations girls!  The hard work obviously paid off!
