Makos selection for talented all-rounder

Year 12 student Natania Ngawhau was recently selected to play half-back for the Tasman under 18 girls Mako rugby team.

This achievement is particularly impressive, given she’s only being playing rugby for the last one and a half seasons.

Natania played for both the Nayland girls team and the Wanderers this year. She says she has put a lot into her rugby to get to where she has so far. “I think it’s a pretty awesome achievement and I worked really hard for it, spending lunchtimes out on the field sprinting and training.”

Rugby vies for Natania’s attention amongst all her other eclectic interests: playing trombone in the Nelson City Brass Band, going to Rarotonga in October to play for Tasman in the sevens tournament, unicycling and keeping on track with her academic studies.

Nayland College congratulates Natania on a great achievement.
