Building connections with Nelson's Chinese sister-city, Yangjiang

Two teachers and eight students from Liangyang Senior High School in Nelson’s sister-city Yangjiang visited Nayland College today and were hosted by Victoria Cockerell and the Nelson Branch of the New Zealand China Friendship Society .

The students participated in a Mandarin class, met with the Principal Daniel Wilson and then went on a tour of the College, visiting a range of different subjects many of which are not options for them back in China. During the morning tea break the students from Yangjiang meet with Mayor Reese and exchanged gifts in a very special presentation.

The students will be in Nelson until 22 March and will do a range of activities around the region including a Powhiri and Whakatu Marae, a leadership weekend with Whenu-iti and visiting many of the local attractions that the Nelson-Tasman region has to offer.
