In a new initiative, spearheaded by our student leaders, the college has enjoyed a week of art, food, performance, and sport, celebrating the cultural diversity amongst our student body.

This week Nayland has been celebrating Pride week, a national movement which celebrates LGBT+ people across New Zealand. Throughout the week, the school’s student led Pride group has organised a number of events across the school to celebrate and increase the visibility of the LGBT+ community within the college.

Since taking up the trombone three and a half years ago, it has been a quick and steady climb to the top for Year 13 student Natania Ngawhau. Her recent selection to play for the National Youth Brass Band is yet another accolade to add to her growing collection.

3 Nayland students took on the Commonwealth last week when they represented the school at the National Student Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting.

Last Friday saw Nayland play host to 14 teams from the top of the South for the annual Readers Cup competition.

In a decision that is both healthy and environmentally friendly, Nayland College is proud to have Oaklands milk on board as our new milk supplier.

In line with other high schools in the region, we have decided to reinstate the Staff Only Day on Thursday 3 September.

Under Level 2 face coverings are required on public transport (buses, trains and commuter ferries). However, school busses are exempt. Face coverings will be required for the NBus.

Just a reminder that our mid term break is coming up on Friday 4 September. Take time to recharge, relax and explore some of the amazing places our region has to offer.

We are seeking an experienced, proactive guidance counsellor to support our Nayland College students. The position is full time and permanent with a negotiable start date, preferably as soon as possible. If this sounds like you, keep reading.

Our Gala Concert will now be held on Tuesday 27 October at the Theatre Royal. This annual concert showcases performing arts from throughout the year and in 2020 will feature our choirs, bands, soloists, senior dance performances, drama and also special guest performers from Broadgreen Intermediate. Tickets are available online or from our Business Centre.
