A message from Sue

John O'Regan —

We celebrated Sue's last day yesterday, and she wanted us to share this with the community...

To the Nelson Central School community and staff,

Thank you for the many gifts and messages (and hugs) I have received from colleagues and whānau over the past couple of weeks. As you can imagine I have been rather busy sifting through a couple of decades of resources and accumulated junk which I have had to re-home, recycle or otherwise dispose of.

Teaching these days is far more complex and all consuming than it was when I first started at Central. While the core of the job remains the same and the rewards too, many layers have been added to it and it is becoming much more challenging as time goes on. Central is a great school, a great community and remains in good heart. I feel privileged to have spent so much time alongside such high functioning and supportive colleagues and community. I will no doubt miss the interactions with tamariki and whānau. Central has been a big part of my life for the last 25 years. My plan for the next wee while involves selling our house and travelling in our caravan around NZ. This should be quite an adventure! Once again many thanks for the challenges, opportunities, friendships, gifts and messages.

Ngā mihi,

Sue
