To register your child for these sports you are required to complete the online registraton form and pay the registration fee. All registration fees must be paid at the time of completion of the online registration form or we will be unable to place your child in a team. Parents are required to coach/manage teams. If we so not have a parent willing to solely take on these roles all parents will be rostered to share the roles.

MINIBALL (Basketball) YRS 3-6

Year 3/4 3 on 3 Miniball (Basketball)

Junior 3x3 Miniball competition is targeted towards year 3&4 pupils and will be run on Thursday afternoons at Jack Robins Stadium in Stoke. The aim of this competition is to introduce our younger players to basketball in a fun, non-threatening environment away from the pressures of competition standings and finals. The 3x3 format means that players have more space to play in and will have more touches of the ball. Scores are recorded to schedule teams of similar experience against each other, though there will be no finals or competition winners. Our referees will work with coaches to ensure it is a learning environment.

The competition will start on Thursday 11 May and run through to Thursday 17 August. No games over the school holidays.

Teams need to register a minimum 4 and Maximum of 6 players in each team. Teams must be accompanied by an adult coach and/or manager at every game.

The grades will be split by age and gender. Teams can be made up of mixed age groups however if we do not have enough entries for a mixed or girls grade, these teams will play in the boys grade.

Cost to play is $40 per player

Year 5/6 Miniball (Basketball)

Miniball is our basketball competition for year 5&6 players.
The competition is played on a Friday night at Saxton Stadium with the first round of games starting at 4:00pm.
The competition will start on Friday 12 May and run through to Friday 25 August.
No games will be played over the school holidays or on Friday 8 July.

Teams need to register a minimum of 7 players in each team. This helps avoid default games during the season due to illness and injury.

Teams must be accompanied by an adult coach/ manager and at least 1 scorekeeper.

The grades will be split by gender though mixed teams are also allowed. If we do not have the numbers for a mixed or girls’ grade, those teams will be entered into one of the other grades.

Fees are $75.00 per player for both terms of competition.
There is a $5 discount for each Miniball player when 2 or more family members play in this competition. You must email us if you have families that will receive the
discount.

Nelson Central School enters teams in the netball competitions over terms 2 and 3.

Netball Grades:Mother Earth Future Ferns (Years 1-2)

ntroduces Netball to 5-6 year olds. The aim is to develop fundamental movement and basic Netball skills.

The focus for this age group is on ‘exploring’ Netball. It allows players to catch, pass, and shoot from day one, providing a fun introduction to Netball. Junior co-ordinators/ star helpers are on court to guide and assist coaches & parents.

Tuesday Afternoons from 3:45pm-4:45pm inside at Saxton Stadium. This programme will run for approximately four weeks.

1st Session - Tuesday 9th May 2023

2nd Session - Tuesday 16th May 2023

3rd Session - Tuesday 23rd May 2023

4th Session - Tuesday 30th May 2023

FutureFERNS – Years 3-4

The focus for this age group is on ‘learning’ the basics of Netball. It’s designed to be fast and fun, maximising participation and touches of the ball. With modified equipment and less players on the court the game is less complicated. Coaches are allowed in their attacking end and guide both learns. They learn basic skills in a modified game of 5-a-side, using two-thirds of a Netball court. Mother Five players in each team and rotating positions ensures everyone gets an equal chance to
develop their skills.

Starts - Tuesday 9th May

- Wednesday 10th May

Finishes - Tuesday 27th June - Festival Day

Fees: $19 per player
No sessions during school holidays

FutureFERNS – Years 5-6

Players have developed a considerable understanding of the game and are now playing 7-a-side. The emphasis is on converting the fundamental movement and basic Netball skills to foundation Netball skills. Performance, challenge and ‘playing’ are key motives for this age group. Ensuring positional rotation and playing at least half a game will give each player the opportunity to participate and develop.

Games are played on Saturdays - 12 Games.

(No games 3rd June; 1st, 8th and 15th July)

Starts - Saturday 6th May

Finishes - Saturday 19th August

Cost: $53.
