Event: Spend the Day Back at Nelson Intermediate.

Welcome Back Whānau

• Start Time: 10:00 AM

• Day: Monday 21st September

• Location: Meet on the School Front Quad in front of Reception

• What to Expect:

  • Formal Welcome: A warm welcome for all manuhiri (visitors) and alumni with a mihi whakatau.

  • Student Assembly: Welcoming Back Hugh Gully: Student, Teacher, and Former Principal

    We are thrilled to announce our guest speaker for the Jubilee celebrations: former student, teacher, and Tumuaki / Principal, Hugh Gully.

    Few individuals embody the spirit and history of Nelson Intermediate quite like Hugh. His connection to our school spans multiple decades, beginning right in our classrooms as a young student. Years later, he returned to pass on his knowledge as a classroom teacher, before ultimately leading our school as Principal throughout a significant period in the 2000s and 2010s.

    Having experienced Nelson Intermediate from nearly every angle - at a student desk, at the front of a classroom, and at the head of our leadership team - Hugh brings a unique depth of memories and insights to our 75th Jubilee.

    We look forward to welcoming Hugh back to share his stories, honour our shared history, and inspire the next generation of Nelson Intermediate learners.

Jubilee Morning Tea

• Time: 11:00 AM

• Location: Staffroom

• What to Expect:

  • Enjoy light refreshments and an informal meet-and-greet, photo opportunities, and reconnecting.

School Tours

• Time: 11:30 AM

• What to Expect:

  • Student Leaders will take you on guided school tours.

  • Memory Capture Booth: Step into our voice recording pods to leave a 60-second snapshot of your favourite school memory. These will be transcribed and compiled into a beautiful digital archive book and shared.

  • Group photo with final acknowledgements and thanks to all who have attended.

Shared Meal

• Time: 5:00 PM

• What to Expect: Join Us for Dinner at Tides Eatery

We’ve reserved tables at Tides Eatery for 5:00 PM - a wonderful chance to reconnect with friends and family over delicious food. Look out for full details in your registration confirmation email.
