NC Goes To UC
Last week 21 Year 13 History and Year 13 Economics students travelled to Christchurch to visit the University of Canterbury. The trip was in support of studies they were doing in both NCEA and first year university papers that they have signed up for as enrichment, one such subject being ECON199 – Introduction to Microeconomics. The boys had a great time participating in lectures, exploring the campus facilities, and meeting with lecturers.
Key highlights included: A seminar with old boy Salvi Esposito at PwC Christchurch, analysing artefacts from Ancient Greece at the Teece museum, staying at historic Addington Jail, and using the Maker Space at the UC Library. The biggest highlight for our students was meeting old boys for lunch and a chat, where they heard about the value of hard study, the variety of courses on offer, and the horrors of student flatting. Everyone we encountered at the campus gave a glowing review of Nelson College students, their work ethic, and their friendly attitude. Special thanks to Cat at UC, Salvi at PwC, and everyone else who helped make it a great trip!
