Students will explore a significant sporting event and the impact it has on them, others and society. A chance to explore the Outdoors and learn interpersonal skills and complete 2.4 (91330).

This course requires students to explore how sporting events influence self, others and society. This explores the SPEECH factors influencing participation. This course gives students the opportunity to plan, carry out and complete a trip into the Outdoors and look at the group behaviours on the trip. This is able to include a 4 day ski trip to Wanaka.

Requirements

No prior experience. Costs met by students approximately $800.00 + food and travel. Purchase workbooks, (approx $30)and ESA Textbook.($38.00)

Assessment

91331 - Examine the significance for self, others and society of a sporting event, a physical activity, or a festival. (2.5) (Internal) ( 4 credits).            91330 - Perform a physical activity in an applied setting. (2.4)(Internal) (4 credits).                                                                                                                                     91333 - Analyse the application of risk management strategies to a challenging outdoor activity. (2.7) (Internal) (3 credits).                                      91334 - Consistently demonstrate social responsibility through applying a social responsibility model in physical activity. (2.8) (Internal) (3 credits).        91335 - Examine the implementation and outcome(s) of a physical activity event or opportunity. (2.9) (Internal) (3 credits).                                                     91336 - Analyse group processes in physical activity. (2.10) (Internal) (3 credits).

About the Teacher

My name is Mrs Walsh-Pasco and I have been teaching Level 2 PE for many years now. I love seeing the personal growth students make doing this course and then where they end up heading in their future. I love skiing and spending time sailing on Lake Wanaka.
