The course involves: describing, identifying, naming, drawing, and giving an account of the properties of particles, the properties of substances they form, and thermochemical principles. The later includes : specific heat capacity, phase changes and heats of formation/combustion. Duration of the unit; 10 weeks.
Requirements
There are no requirements for this course but the completion of NCEA Level 2 achievement standard 91164 would be beneficial.
Assessment
This unit of work is externally accessed , NCEA Level 3, achievement standard 91390, worth 5 credits.
About the Teacher
Maree Pullar has been teaching for thirty years, with the last eight years teaching online. She is registered as a teacher with Roxburgh Area School, where she teaches Science, Mathematics and Chemistry. Her major at the University of Otago was Chemistry. Mrs Pullar enjoys the outdoors; gardening, jogging, cycling, swimming and harriers. She follows the Highlanders and All Black rugby teams.
