Course: An Event That Changed The World (NCEA L1 - History)

An opportunity for students to research and write about a History topic that interests them.

NCEA L1

Students, after discussion with their History teacher, can choose a topic about an event that has changed the modern world. The module involves a research component and a written component. Each component is worth 4 credits.

The possibilities for students doing this model are endless, they can choose virtually any event, whether it be a man made disaster (Titanic/Wahine sinking), a political upheaval (American/French revolution etc), a social disaster (Influenza epidemic 1919), a military campaign (Gallipoli, Normandy landings etc) or anything in between. A chance for students to follow their passion.

Requirements

An ability to work independently, to be creative, diligent and organised.

Assessment

This module has two assessments;

AS 91001-students research their chosen topic and AS 91002-students use their research to write about their topic. Both are worth 4 credits.

About the Teacher

Garry Brittenden has been back teaching for 11 years after running a tourism venture for 18 years. He loves reading, writing, cooking, fishing, diving, travelling and cricket.
