Course: Towards Modernism - Style and Meaning

Nicky Lewis —

This course is to prepare students for two for the external examinations based on the Towards Modernism topic area.

When:

Semester Two

Subject Area(s)

Art History

NCEA L2

Students who study Art History not only learn to analyse and discuss art works but also develop critical thinking skills. These skills help in understanding the contexts of artistic creation and how art works reflect the time and culture in which they were created. This can then be referenced for all imagery so prevalent in our modern world. It does not require practical art skills

About the Teacher

I LOVE Art History it is an underestimated subject. In our modern society images have become more and more prevalent and I believe everyone should be visually literate as I genuinely believe it will enrich their lives. I am an animal and art loving Brummie (from Birmingham, England) who now lives on a crop farm with my partner, two children and growing menagerie in Canterbury.
