Course: English (NCEA L3 - via FarNet)

FarNet —

Level Three English is designed to fit around what you want to study and need to get out of this course.

Of top priority is developing your skills so that you are critically literate and able to effectively communicate in the world around you. We will learn to do this through the deep study of a written text(s) and two visual texts. It is through the study of these texts that we will explore the world around us and within us. The texts we ultimately study will depend on what students in the class decide, but suggested options include: Tu by Patricia Grace, Othello by William Shakespeare, Hunger by Steve McQueen, 12 Years A Slave by Steve McQueen, Moulin Rouge by Baz Luhrmann. Study is supported through a Google site and Google classroom - links to these will be sent early in the new year.

Prerequisites

Admission to the course is subject to the approval of the e-Dean at the students’ school. 14 or more credits in English Level 2 is recommended.
