This module is designed to introduce students to Psychology and the study of human behaviour. It explores the approaches adopted in Psychology including Cognitive, Biological, Humanistic, Behavioural and Psychodynamic Approaches. Students will also examine key psychological debates like Nature vs Nurture and how debates have changed over time. The assessment types include student driven enquiry, digital presentations and essays.

Requirements

Open entry but literacy at Level 1 is recommended

Assessment

91844 - Examine different psychological approaches used to explain a behaviour. (Internal) (6 credits).                                                                                  

91845 - Examine how a psychological debate has changed over time. (Internal) (3 credits).

About the Teacher

Diane Austin has been teaching for 30 years and has taught online courses for 5 years with the two most recent years teaching Psychology through NetNZ. She teaches Psychology and Media Studies at Marlborough Girls' College in Blenheim. In her spare time she likes to travel, tramp and watch sports.
