Course: Bonding, structure and energy changes. (NCEA L2 Chemistry)

Maree Pullar —

This course involves giving an account of bonding, structure and properties of different substances and the energy involved in physical and chemical changes.

When:

Term 2

Subject Area(s)

Chemistry

NCEA L2

The course will look at types of bonding and resulting structures and how the properties of solids are related to their structure. Energy maybe absorbed or released in chemical reactions and stoichiometry will be used to calculate heats of reaction.

Requirements

A calculator will be required. It would be beneficial, but not essential, for the participant to have prior knowledge of basic atomic structure (e.g atomic number, atomic mass, electron arrangement.)

Assessment

This is a Level 2 NCEA, externally assessed achievement standard, 91164, worth 5 credits.

About the Teacher
