POU WHĀ | Te Tikanga Ture, Policy and Systems

NZPF —

The Minister’s policy to validate the importance of specialist schools for ORS funded learners, by investing in specialist school facilities is a helpful step which Pou Whā supports.

As is their duty, when the NZPF President and Vice-President elections neared, members were advised by Pou Whā of the nomination and closing dates, and also the timeline for submitting constitutional changes to the NZPF AGM. They also remind members of the closing dates for applying for NZPF grants or nominating members for NZPF awards.

This term, Pou Whā concentrated on Rural, Remote, and Special Education Principals. It is essential for NZPF to recognize and advocate for the various contexts in which our leaders work. The term also highlighted the contributions of our sector partners that support schools, including valuable information from ERO regarding the review of the RSE Curriculum and from N4L on online safety and web filtering.

Pou Whā is continuously reviewing NZPF archival materials, policies and procedures to ensure they are relevant and workable. They make regular recommendations to the national executive for changes, additions, deletions and improvements. They also maintain stewardship of the History of NZPF.  ㅤ
