POU RUA | Te Marautanga, Curriculum

It is still early in the year so below Pou Rua outlines their curriculum work programme for the year.

- Monitor and understand all NZ Curriculum initiatives and provide feedback to the national executive.
- Report any overload issues detected.
- Advocate for resources and PLD for principals so they can competently lead learning in their schools.
- Represent NZPF on the IDWG and Curriculum Voices Group
- Consider a process which would be acceptable to principals, for ERO to monitor and report on school compliance with the new reading, writing, and math teaching time requirements.
- Advocate strongly for the Ministry of Education to support Mana Whenua to work with schools and provide the funding resources to ensure Ahika (the local people) can engage with schools.
- Support NZPPA/Tautai o le Moana to advance the language, culture and heritage of Pacific Island learners.
- Advocate for ITE providers to be engaged with the NZ Curriculum Refresh so that training reflects the changes to the NZ Curriculum and NCEA.
- Engage with the National Association of Normal Schools to better understand their role and future goals.
